Welcome to Vytina!

Vytina (or Vitina) is a beautiful resort in the central Peloponnese, built on the slopes of Mt. Maenalon (or Mainalon or even Menalon), next to a fir tree forest. The climate is fine, winter or summer. Around the main square of the village, one can find numerous small shops (mainly selling dairy products, herbs and carved wood souvenirs), a cultural Museum, a cultural center, housed in the Municipal building, and many tavernas. There is also the Municipal Library and the “Greek School,” a stone-built building that has housed the historic School of Vytina.

The tourist infrastructure is adequately developed, and visitors are welcome year-round. Visitors are offered a chance to enjoy or buy the locally produced honey, cheese and pasta, and have dinner at one of the local tavernas or restaurants serving traditionally roasted wild boar, rooster in wine, vegetable pies with handmade “fyllo” (see "How to Make a Pie" Album) and, of course, the local specialty, salt pork. No noisy clubs around, but there are some modern wine bars in which to spend the evening.
