By car, on foot or on horseback, this is the entrance to the village coming from Siatista-Eratyra-Sissanio.

Vlasti: Fields and the Village

The wheat fields go straight into the bossom of the village; or is it the village in the bossom of these fields?
Vlasti: Music School

Vlasti: Music School

First surprise as we get into the village: Where does all this cacophony come from? Tens of musical instruments giving out all kinds of sounds as they are being tormented by pupils. We approach the traditional building in the photo which is echoing in the otherwise still afternoon air. A sign informs us that this is the Music School of the village! A marble bust in front of it is in the honor of the man who financed this project.
Vlasti: Vranakeion Elementary School

Vlasti: Vranakeion Elementary School

Second surprise: Just across the street a huge building, having served in the past as an Elementary School, totally out of proportion. It was built after a donation of a local merchant named Vranakis. As we approach to get its photo we see it is not abandoned. More music classes are held in it as we can, beyond any doubt, understand. It seems that classes are dispersed to both buildings to make teaching possible! This school is a sign of the wealth of the village one hundred years ago and of how populous it used to be.
Vlasti: The Village Church

Vlasti: The Village Church

St Mark church, a very old traditional building which, unfortunately, caught fire a while ago. Only the bellfry was spared. The main church building was restored but the art masterpieces in its interior were destroyed beyond repair.

Behind the photographer, to his left, is the village main square. A couple of cafés and three all-purpose establishments that turn into bars when the sun goes down girdle the square.

The child shows its affection to the stone bear-cub; it would be otherwise had the cub been alive, especially with a protective bear mother close by!
