The city is easily accessed by air, boat, and bus.

By Air:  The airport (27 kilometers from Kavala) is connected with Athens by regularly scheduled flights and with a number of Western European cities by charters. By Bus:  Kavala can be reached by bus from Athens, Thessaloniki, Drama, Serres, Xanthi, Komotini, and Alexandroupolis. Komotini and Alexandroupolis are also served by long distance buses.
