Welcome to Glyfada!

As you leave Athens heading south along the Attica coast, one of the first major resorts that you come to is Glyfada, an interesting combination of modern city and seaside resort, very comfortably sitting side-by-side. Glyfada is home to some of the finest shopping outside of Athens proper, as well as luxurious high-rise apartment buildings, most likely a legacy of the city’s rapid development as host to many American military families who were based at the former Hellenikon military facility. It is a chic modern city offering plenty of eating facilities, nightlife, modern hotels, and lovely seaside resorts.

Glyfada is so conveniently located to Athens city center that it is an excellent accommodation choice for visitors wishing to stay at a seaside location, yet still reach Athens within minutes. Upgraded by the International Airport's removal from Hellenikon to Spata, and thus freed from the deafening noise of landing aircraft, Glyfada is quickly becoming a first-rate resort.

Good public transportation, including the new tramway lines to Faliron and, eventually, to Piraeus and downtown Athens, will quickly whisk you to the city center only 18 kilometers away. The new El. Venizelos International Airport is only 28 kilometers from Glyfada.

Since Glyfada is also a modern business center, many of its hotels will attract business travelers as well as holidaymakers. Among its major attractions, golfing enthusiasts will enjoy the challenge of its excellent 18-hole golf course, the only one of its kind in the Athens area. It is a first-rate course, hosting numerous International golfing events each year. Glyfada also is host to many yachting marinas, with excellent facilities short or long term.
