Acharavi
Welcome to Acharavi!
Forty kilometers (25 miles) north of Corfu airport, about one hour’s drive away, we come to Acharavi Beach on the north tip of the island. It is a very popular resort due to its immense 8 kilometer (5 mile) long sandy beach, situated adjacent to hills covered with olive groves. The beach is especially suitable for kids as the water is shallow, even at a distance of some 50 meters (150 feet) from the coastline.
Acharavi’s success as a resort must be ages old, as evidenced by the ruins of a Roman Baths complex, which were unearthed while excavating to build the foundation for a new house, an area now under the protection of the Ministry of Culture. Acharavi features what all resorts do, yet in abundance. Water sports of all kinds, a multitude of restaurants and tavernas, many well-stocked supermarkets, a fine lodging infrastructure of all categories, many swimming pools with free entrance (provided one buys a drink or two at the bar), souvenir shops, etc. The old Acharavi village is very near, featuring traditional houses and cozy small bars.
