This excellent nine-day itinerary has every day perfectly planned for you, including a beautiful drive along the Saronic Gulf, ending with a visit to the dramatic Cape Sounion, the most southerly point on the mainland. The following day we've included another scenic drive of a different nature, so that you can visit the outstanding site of ancient Delphi. Our marvelous 4-day Cruise Greek Islands and Turkey will include magical stops, with diverse interests, scenery and sites, including stunning Mykonos, and Kusadasi on the Turkish coast, with the opportunity to visit ancient Ephesus. The cruise will call at Patmos, for the Monastery of St. John; at Rhodes, for its medieval city; at Heraklion, Crete, with a chance to visit the site of Knossos; and at magical Santorini, where you can walk along the caldera and view the volcano. On your return to Athens, we've included a fantastic city tour, which includes the Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum.

Day 1

Arrival before noon at Athens International Airport. Transfer to your selected hotel. Early afternoon, depart for a drive along the beautiful Attika coast to Cape Sounion, the most southerly point of the mainland, for a guided visit of the Poseidon Temple, standing majestically on the cliff, overlooking the Aegean Sea. Overnight Athens.

Day 2

Depart in the morning for a drive along the National road, via Thebes and Livadia to Delphi. We will visit the famous archaeological site, the “Navel of the World,” where the outcome of events and history was “predicted” for many warriors and politicians by the renowned oracle, Pythia, in ancient times. The museum contains many important findings from the site, among them the impressive Bronze Charioteer. Lunch at a local restaurant, then a drive to Arachova for shopping. Return to Athens early evening. Overnight Athens.

Days 3 - 6


Athens City, Piraeus Port, Mykonos (Island), Patmos (Island), Crete/Heraklion (Island), Santorini (Island)

In the morning, transfer to the port for embarkation on your cruise: 4-Day Golden Classic, which includes fabulous stops at Mykonos, Kusadasi, Patmos, Rhodes, Crete and Santorini. Every exciting port call allows for private explorations or organized shore excursions. You'll have four nights on the ship, with plenty of on board activities to choose from, plus full board basis for your meals. 4 Overnights on board.

We will await you upon disembarkation at the port and transfer you to your hotel, where you can leave your luggage and go for a stroll through the city. We strongly recommend that you take advantage of this day at leisure and follow the new archaeological promenade, a car-free network of streets around the Acropolis rock and the main archaeological sites of Athens. You can enjoy visiting the many ancient monuments dispersed in the city. Athens is a safe city and one can enjoy exploring it on one's own!

In the morning, we depart for an orientation tour of Athens with our professional guide, passing by the most important ancient and modern monuments of town. Stop at the foot of the Acropolis for an extensive visit of the site, including the New Acropolis Museum. After a walk through the old town of Athens, Plaka, drive back to the hotel. * All tours are operated by a Tour Operating Company. Cruise fuel surcharges, if any, are not included.

Please note that this tour can also be done on a Group basis (minimum 20 participants), on either BB or Half-Board basis. For less participants, the tour can also be offered on a private basis. In the latter case, there are two alternatives: either by hired taxi or, to bring down the cost, by rented car. If your choice is by rented car, road maps are provided and a guide will be waiting for you at the archaeological sites/museums, wherever this is needed.
