Vathi, the capital of Ithaka, is a charming town, with some old mansions, nice cafes and restaurants, and three museums: the archaeological, the nautical and the folklore museum. The visitor can go on excursions to the intensely Ionian, traditional seaside villages, and visit the medieval monastery of Moni Taxiarhon and the wonderful caves of the island that are just begging to be explored.
