Cairo - Alexandria

Following the steps of Alexander the Great

5 Days / 4 Overnights Cairo - Alexandria

This is a five-day first acquaintance with the treasures of Egypt. In three days we include the "basics" of Alexandria and Cairo, a first touch with the mystery of the Egyptian civilization. The fourth day is the departure day, with no activities, while the fifth day, which normally is arrival day, is dedicated to those who wish to move on their own, who would like to decide themselves what to do and where to go, so no activities are scheduled . We are certain that during this short stay , Egypt will fascinate you! Most probably you will wish to get into a deeper relationship with one of the main cradles of the western civilization, in which case the extended excursion programme of our Agency for Egypt can offer you many alternatives! Please visit our site from time to time, to be updated on our new offers.

Cairo - Giza - Sakkara (Memphis)

Cairo - Giza - Sakkara (Memphis)

Κάιρο

After our breakfast we have a full day of Guided Tours. First we visit the Pyramids in Giza: The imposing Great Pyramid of Giza is the only Wonder of the Ancient World still resisting time. The Great Sphinx is thought by most Egyptologists to represent King Khafra (also known by the Hellenised version of his name, Chephren), but the matter is still questionable. The rest of the body of the statue is one of a lion.

We proceed with visiting Sakkara and Memphis: Memphis, once the glorious Old Kingdom Capital of Egypt, is almost completely destroyed by the annual overflows of the river Nile for approximately 4500 years. It is believed the city was founded around 3100 BC. Today what remains is some statues in a garden and a partly open-air museum exhibiting a huge limestone statue of Ramses II, an alabaster sphinx wheighing 8 tons, the sarcophagus of Amenhotep and the alabaster beds on which sacred Apis bulls were mummified before being placed in the Serapeum at Sakkara.

Today we are also visiting the Egyptian Museum. The Cairo Archaeologica Museum is a huge building with more than 100,000 relics and antiquities from all periods of ancient Egyptian history; of main interest are the artifacts made of pure gold, retrieved from the only undesecrated Royal tomb found, the one of Tutankhamun, unearthed in 1922.

We return to our hotel to rest.
