Mansion Sofia

Up until fifteen years ago the house was still occupied by one of the descendants of the Akila Family, after whom the villa is named. She refused to allow modern technology to enter the house, and lived happily without electricity, collecting her water from the sterna, or well, after each winter rain. Mansion Sophia now has the luxury of all modern conveniences, including electricity and running water, but retains the character and style of the original house.

The imposing large wooden entrance gates of Mansion Sophia conceal a secluded and pretty private courtyard, complete with the recent addition of a swimming pool. Double doors lead directly from the courtyard into a spacious lounge and dining area with its superb high vaulted ceilings and original polished wooden floors.

The two double bedrooms, one master and one smaller, second bedroom, lead off from either side of the central living room. One bathroom, with modern amenities, serves both bedrooms. The well-equipped kitchen has an original stone arch which now serves as a washing-up and prep area. The highlight of the property is the lovely kitchen garden, a perfect spot for enjoying alfresco meals.

Amenities in the villa include satellite TV,  DVD player, a book, DVD & CD collection, a well-equipped kitchen, with oven, fridge, filter coffee maker, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery, and pots & pans. Daily housekeeping is provided, along with bed linen, towels, pool towels, bathrobes, slippers and guest amenities.

The swimming pool measures 3.4 meters by 5 meters, and is fairly shallow at 1.55 meters. Sun loungers and umbrella are beside the pool, and there's a table and chairs in the kitchen courtyard for outdoor dining.

Included with the villa is a complimentary mobile telephone and a late model car with standard transmission.
