Day 1

Arrival at Athens International Airport. Assistance at airport and transfer with escort to your centrally located Hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure. Overnight Athens.

Day 2

After breakfast, depart for an orientation tour of Athens with our professional guide, passing by the most important historical and modern monuments of town. Stop at the foot of the Acropolis hill for an extensive visit of the site, and visit the magnificent New Acropolis Museum, as well as the Dionyssos Theater. Descend from the Acropolis hill through the Ancient and Roman Agora for a guided tour. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. Overnight Athens.

Day 3

A drive along the coastal road of the Saronic Gulf takes us to the Peloponnese peninsula. After a short drive from the famous Corinth Canal (stop for photos), we reach Ancient Corinth, also known through St. Paul’s Letters to the Corinthians. We then drive on to the “City of Gold,” the ancient center of commerce, to Mycenae, where we will admire the famous Lion Gate, the Cyclopian walls, the Tomb of Agamemnon, and many more remains. A short ride will take us to Nafplio (Nauplia), former capital of Greece. The town itself charms with its beautiful old part and its well kept neoclassical buildings. After a relaxing walk through town we continue for Epidaurus, famous for its theater, with its unique acoustics, for a guided visit of the site and its museum. Overnight Nauplia.

Day 4

Today our tour takes us to the center of the Peloponnese, to Sparti, the location of the toughest warriors of ancient times. We will ascend to Mistra to visit the medieval castle situated on the foot of the Taygettos mountains. Our route will take us from here through breathtaking landscapes over the Taygettos mountains to Kalamata, a charming town in the southern Peloponnese, world famous for its succulent olives. Overnight Kalamata.

Day 5

After breakfast, we will depart for our drive along the coastal road of the Ionian Sea until we reach Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, where even nowadays the torch for every Olympiad is still lit, just as in ancient times. A walk by the remains of the various buildings and over the stadium seems to take us back in time, so that we can  imagine the ancient athletes at their endeavors. After the site, we will visit the museum, with its impressive statues and other finds. Overnight Olympia.

Day 6


Olympia Town, Patras City, Rio Village, Delphi Town

After breakfast, we will depart Olympia and drive via Patras to Rio, from where we will cross to Antirio on the Greek mainland, using the magnificent new bridge. We continue along the Corinthian Gulf to Itea, and on to Delphi. We will visit the famous site, the “Navel of the World,” where the outcome of events and history was ‘predicted’ for many warriors and politicians by the renowned oracle, Pythia, in ancient times. The museum contains many important finds from the site, among them the impressive the bronze Charioteer. Overnight Delphi.

Day 7

After breakfast, we will drive back to Athens at a leisurely pace, and the rest of the day will be at your leisure for own explorations. This is an excellent time for last-minute gift shopping. Wander the many shops on Ermou Street, or head over to Monastiraki. Overnight Athens.

Day 8

In the morning after breakfast, transfer to the airport for your homeward bound flight. If continuing your holiday, perhaps to the islands by ferry, you will be transferred to the port.

Please note that (1) your accommodation can also be booked on Half-Board basis; (2) this tour is only on Group basis (minimum 20 participants). For less participants, the tour is on a private basis. In the latter case, there are two alternatives: either by hired taxi or, to bring down the cost, by rented car. If your choice is by rented car, road maps are provided and a guide will be waiting for you at the archaeological sites/museums, wherever this is needed.
