Santorini Caldera - Oia

An adventure not to be missed!

Santorini Oia Sunset

Santorini Oia Sunset

We will go by bus to Athinios port where we will board the beautiful traditional boat “King Thiras” that will sail to reach the lava islet Nea Kameni. There we leave the boat and walk an ascending soil path to approach the crater of the still active Volcano. Then back to the boat and we sail to the second lava islet called Palea Kameni, where we find Hot Springs. For about half an hour, the boat’s anchor will dip into the green sulphur waters and you will have the chance to have a swim. For some people this unforgettable swim means health, for other people it means relaxation, and for others a chance for a mud bath.

Afterward, we will sail to the beautiful and traditional island called Thirassia. There you can explore the island or swim at the beach next to the port. We stay for about two hours then return to the boat to set sail on a course close to the caldera cliffs, so you will have the chance to take outstanding photos. The colors and formations are impressive. When the boat approaches Oia, we can see its white houses built on top of the red cliffs, resembling spreading snow.

We'll arrive at Armeni, the small traditional port of Oia. There we leave our beautiful boat and we approach Oia village by the stairs, either walking or riding a donkey. Oia is built along the rim of the caldera wall. You can walk in the village and enjoy the magnificent panoramic view, the traditional architecture, the art galleries, the romantic coffee shops, and the spectacular colorful sunset. Fifteen minutes after the sunset we return to the village square to board the bus and return to the points of your earlier departure.

Notes:

Thick-soled shoes are suggested for our visit to the volcano. And don't forget your bathing suit! Languages spoken on the boat: Greek, English, Italian, Spanish, German For passengers arriving at Santorini by cruise ship and wishing to take the same tour, arrangements can be made in advance, on request.
