Fourteen kilometers (8.7 miles) from Eratyra, Namata Village is a most beautiful village, built at the foot of Mt. Askio. The houses are very picturesque and the climate superb. There is one all-purpose establishment in the village, open year-round, where you can have delicious food, even in winter. The village is at an altitude of 1320 meters (3960 feet), and it was built some time in the Middle Ages. Its inhabitants make their living mainly on nomadic animal husbandry. The monastery of Aghia Paraskevi is definitely worth a visit. If you arrange to be here on July 26, you’ll be most welcome and treated very well by the local people feasting on Aghia Paraskevi’s name day, when a big “panegyri” takes place.
